Nonsurgical debridement

Closed gum curettage is a dental procedure carried out with the help of special devices to clean periodontal pockets (in the subgingival zone) from pathological contents: food particles, soft and hard plaque, and stone.

The main differences between closed curettage and open curettage are considered to be the small size of the periodontal pocket (no more than 4 mm) and the absence of the need for surgical exfoliation of the gum area. The operation is performed without pain due to anesthesia with a local anesthetic and takes place within 1 hour.
